This International Children's Book Fair is part of a universe inspired by Miffy (Nintje) and a Ray Bans collaboration.
I seem to gravitate to challenging scenarios, proving to myself and others, brands or elements that seem to not have any similarities, can find common ground.
This idea started as a case study for my Typography and AI class, and ended in a very tactile and feasible project.
For the catalogue and map of the venue, I considered the kids themselves as the main audience. Putting myself in contact with my inner child I found that the reason for that was when I was a child, I wanted to feel included, be part of the adult world one way or another. I envisioned the kids holding the map and giving them a sort of independence and agency in deciding where to go to in the festival. That alone shifts the dynamics for the experience at the festival. I also chose to not make a design too overloaded or with too much input, as there would be already many things happening IRL experience. Hence the basic colours and wide spread out lay out.
Another important part of the design was the sustainable user experience. I consider which design would create less waste, and that's how I decided the brochure, once fully opened, to become a poster kids could hang up in their room. Transforming a piece of paper into a souvenir that would extend the life of the print.

With the help of Midjourney I created live action activation experiences and storytelling sets that serve as props for family photoshoots. With the help of Ray Ban, we transform dull moments into cinematic experiences, turning families into protagonists of their own visual narrative, while also providing the best souvenir for parents: family portraits.
For the sets, I thought of safe surfaces where children could sit, fall, touch, spill liquids on, which led me to rugs.Rugs are a practical, but also aesthetically pleasing. I wanted textures and materials that provided a fair amount of stimulus to the children, while also being easy to manipulate. Each set is inspired in environments found through all children's stories: Forests, gardens, beach, and an experimental one: dessert. The color palette was inspired by the visual identity of the ICBF Poster.
As a personal note, I wanted to dedicate a personal homage to honour parents and the sacrifices they make for their families by giving them a stage to shine.

Apart from the sets, I also introduced a limited edition pair of Ray Ban glasses and a photo frame for IG stories in alignment with the fair's theme. Making a more obvious link between ICBF and Ray Ban.
