As part of my Illustration Course for the MA in Art Direction at LABASAD, we were asked to create a brand for a coffee company and his 3 blends: Morning Espresso, Espresso, Decaf

Rooted in Japanese kawaii culture and manga comic world, Kahiro celebrates softness, optimism, and the joy of everyday details through dreamy pastels, bold expressions, and collectible illustrations.

Each can is a small ritual of energy, art, and self-expression, designed to be photographed, felt, and lived.

Every blend embodies a distinct energy state, from sunrise optimism to fearless rush to evening calm, forming a colour-coded diary of moods you can hold in your hand. Inspired by festival culture and modern coffee rituals, Kohiro treats caffeine not as addiction, but as manifestation: you drink the mood you want to live. Each can becomes a visual mantra, a tiny artwork, and a companion for the energy you want to summon: calm, creative, or unstoppable.

The reason why I decided to not only create an icon or character that represented the blends, was because I was also thinking in the responsibility of the producer who creates an environmental impact, but also the consumer who decides how big or small will its ecological footprint will be. I also aimed to alongate the life spam of a can and re-purpose its surface, turning it into the new ''comic'' one can read, while enjoying a coffee. As we say in Mexico, it achieves the 3 B's: Bueno, Bonito, Barato.
